The history of the Verbeke family
The maritime passion of the Verbeke family goes back to 1875. For five generations, the name Verbeke has stood for entrepreneurship, reliability, and expertise in the port and shipping world.
What started as a maritime adventure in the bunkering sector evolved from 1969 into a solid and respected player with Verbeke Bunkering — a family business that for decades was responsible for the fuel supply of ships. Thanks to a strong reputation for service and quality, Verbeke Bunkering distinguished itself in the busy port of Antwerp and by the 2000s became the market leader in bunkering. In 2010, Verbeke Bunkering was successfully sold.
But the story didn’t end there. In 2010, the family took its next step with the creation of Tank Opslag Verbeke (TOV). Through TOV, the family continued to build on its future in tank storage and liquid logistics. Product knowledge, safety, and customer focus remained key pillars.
Today, Ryan and Andy Verbeke are writing the next chapter with NorthSea Tankstorage (NSTS). With respect for tradition and a clear focus on the future, they are fully committed to innovation, digitalization, and sustainability — continuing the rich maritime and logistical legacy of the Verbeke family.
